Pedalling for Poppies - Lynn News May 29th 2009

Pedalling pensioner David Foulkes has completed another marathon bike ride in aid of the Royal British Legion.
Mr Foulkes, of Hunstanton, was accompanied on his two day, 127 mile ride by Ginene Simpson, also of Hunstanton.
Together, they hope to raise about £1,000 for the poppy appeal.
The pair left the resort on Friday morning, stopped off at Fakenham and stayed overnight in Norwich. After a civic send-off from the city's Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum, they were welcomed back to Hunstanton at 5.15pm on Saturday by the new town mayor, Mr Cllr Christine Earnshaw. Mr Foulkes said: " We had no problems or breakdowns along the way. The weather was nice and we enjoyed ourselves while hopefully raising a lot of money."
He aims to collect more then £750 in sponsorship to add to the £15,00 he had already raised for the Legion through charity walks, bike rides and concerts.
His next venture will be a sponsored walk with supporters on Saturday, June 6, in memory of the D-Day landings. "We will be starting from Heacham Social Club at 2pm and finishing at the United Services club in Hunstanton at about 8:30pm," said Mr Foulkes, who in total has raised more than £30,000 for good causes since 1978.

CHARITY champion David Foulkes is preparing for a busy period of fundraising which will see him complete a return cycle ride to Norwich and a sponsored coastal walk.
Mr Foulkes, of Park Road, Hunstanton, will leave his home town at 9.20am today for the start of a long cycle ride to Norwich, where he will stay the night before starting the return leg the following morning.

His attention will then turn to a sponsored walk from Heacham Social Club to the United Services Club, in Hunstanton, on Saturday, June 6.

The walk starts at 2pm and the group is expected to arrive in Hunstanton at around 7.30pm.

Both challenges are being organised to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
